This is what I have found from many damp investigation where I have carried out intrusive damp surveys, along with CCTV drain surveys. Example of these case study videos can be viewed on my YouTube channel https://youtube.com/@completepreservation
A CCTV drain survey is very cheap, compared to some of the expensive independent damp surveys. The many independent damp survey reports that have been sent in over the last couple of weeks, all have specifications of damp repair advice without actually inspecting the drains. Is it really possible to actually to offer advice on repairing rising damp symptoms without eliminating potential drainage issues? In my opinion it isn’t, and the reason being is the potential repairs will not be dealing with the root causes, and it’s highly likely the repairs will fail, all because the damp surveyor has presumed the drains to be in excellent repair.
If you have a solid wall, or cavity wall building with damp issues, before paying for an independent damp survey check out our other videos for free damp advice on how to lower high ground levels, bridged dpc issues, removing modern masonry paint which restricts evaporation, or even cutting back cement render and forming a bell mouth. If you have defective drains you might possibly be able to claim for all the repairs under your home insurance.
